ACCOUNTING ETHICS / SOCIAL SECURITY
PREPARER PENALTIES / CIRCULAR 230

Dear Practitioner:

The purpose of this letter is to announce our 2011 Fall Program! All of our seminars are designed to qualify for CPE credit under rules promulgated by the New England and NJ State Boards of Public Accountancy, and the Office of Professional Responsibility in Washington, D.C. (tax seminars only). All of our 1-day seminars run from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. (8:30 a.m. for registration, coffee, and pastry), are priced at $165 each, and are designed to help you better serve your best closely-held business and individual clients. As a special inducement to register with us this fall, you can obtain 24 or 40 hours of CPE credit by registering for any three 1-day seminars for only $420 or for any five 1-day seminars for only $660, respectively. Please note that any grouping of 3 or 5 registrants qualifies for the reduced fees, that our ½-day seminars are priced at $132 each, and that two ½ day seminars on the same day are priced at $198. Please note also that Accounting and Financial Reporting (GAAP) for Not-For-Profit Organizations, Form 990/Tax Aspects of NFPs, 2011 FASB, and Compilation & Review qualify for Yellow Book. If you register for the 2011 FASB/SAS Update or Compilation & Review, please add $29 to your registration fee to cover the extra cost of the extensive manual. If you register for a seminar at The Chateau Restaurant in Andover, please add $17 to cover the cost of the required lunch.

We have added several new seminars to our curriculum this fall: New MA Homestead Exemption (1/2 day) led by Lisa J. Delaney, Esq.; NH Compensation Deduction (1/2 day) led by Jon Sparkman, Esq., CPA and Maurice Gilbert, CPA, MST; The IC-DISC (1/2 day) led by Paul Ferreira, CPA; and Personal Goodwill (1/2 day), Real Estate Professionals (1/2 day), Tax Basis of Debt to S Shareholders (1/2 day), and Section 45R Small Employer Health Insurance Credit (1/2 day) each led by Lucien P. Gauthier, Esq., CPA.

This fall, we are offering a 1/2 day seminar entitled Accounting Ethics (9:00am-12:30pm) which is intended to qualify for 4 credit hours of instruction on Ethics even under the VT accountancy statute and rules. This fall, we also are offering a 1/2 day seminar on Preparer Penalties/Circular 230 (9:00am-12:30pm) which is intended to qualify for 4 credit hours of instruction on Ethics and has been revised to include a discussion of the final regulations on preparer penalties and final regulations on Circular 230. This seminar is a must for anybody preparing and signing federal income tax returns!
